5-Day Serengeti Safari - Medium

Your journey will commence in either Tarangire National Park or Lake Manyara National Park, followed by three days of exploration in the Serengeti National Park, where you’ll closely track the mesmerizing movements of the Wildebeest Migration. Your adventure will culminate in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, providing you with an unparalleled opportunity to witness the  Wildebeest Migration in all its glory and discover the remarkable parks that have earned Tanzania its renowned reputation.

Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park Or Tarangire National Park

You’ll set out from Arusha after breakfast for your journey to either Tarangire National Park or Lake Manyara National Park. The choice between the two will depend on the time of year and the unique safari experience each offers. Your expert guide will help you decide which park is the best fit for your safari adventure.

If you opt for Tarangire National Park, your drive after breakfast will take you on a roughly two-hour journey through the scenic landscapes of Tanzania. Along the way, you’ll pass through vibrant Maasai villages and traverse the expansive open plains that are iconic to African imagery.

If you choose Lake Manyara National Park, your morning departure from Arusha will lead you on a two-hour drive, with a stop in the market town of Mto Wa Mbu en route. This bustling town is known for its agricultural and fresh produce market, offering a cultural mosaic and opportunities for souvenir shopping, making it a memorable part of your journey.

Day 2: Tarangire/Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

Our day of adventure begins with an early breakfast, preparing us for the exciting journey ahead.

We’ll embark on a scenic drive toward the Serengeti, taking in the breathtaking landscapes along the way. As we pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, keep your eyes peeled for the possibility of spotting magnificent wildlife, such as cape buffalo, baboons, elephants, and elusive leopards hidden within the lush undergrowth.

Upon reaching the Serengeti, a delicious lunch awaits at the Serengeti National Park picnic area.

With renewed energy, we’ll venture out to explore the Serengeti itself. Prepare to be mesmerized by the vast number of animals that freely roam these grassy plains, showcasing the remarkable biodiversity of this incredible ecosystem.

After a day filled with awe-inspiring wildlife encounters, we’ll retire for the evening to our accommodations nestled in the heart of Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

The day begins with an early awakening, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the magic of a Serengeti sunrise.

During this tranquil morning hour, nature comes alive with unparalleled opportunities to witness predators in action. The low light and cooler temperatures make it the perfect time to observe lions, leopards, and cheetahs as they embark on their quest for an early meal. Additionally, you’ll have the privilege of witnessing the graceful movements of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores as they begin their day.

For those seeking an extraordinary adventure, an alternative option awaits: a sunrise hot air balloon safari with a champagne breakfast. This once-in-a-lifetime experience above the Serengeti. Feel free to discuss this option with your safari expert.

Following your incredible morning adventure, you’ll return to your lodge for a leisurely and well-deserved late breakfast.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you’ll journey back to Ngorongoro Crater National Park, taking a different route through the Serengeti to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities. You’ll witness vast herds of animals, including wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, African elephants, and apex predators like cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and lions.

Upon arrival, you’ll check into your chosen accommodation, either on the crater’s rim or in nearby Karatu Town, based on your preferences. Enjoy a delicious dinner to conclude your adventurous day in Tanzania’s wildlife wonderland.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater- Arusha

After a hearty breakfast, your adventure continues as you head to Ngorongoro Crater, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. You’ll catch your first glimpse of this vast and lush caldera from a panoramic viewpoint, showcasing its well-deserved reputation.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to a remarkable array of wildlife, including the legendary Big Five and more than 120 mammal species. It’s an ideal location to witness the endangered black rhinoceros and observe large groups of hippopotami.

Within the crater, a diverse community of predators thrives, featuring lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas. The herbivore population is equally impressive, with wildebeests, zebras, various antelope species, and cape buffalo.

Amidst the day’s excitement, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch by the famous hippo pool, taking in the mesmerizing surroundings. As the day ends, you’ll return to Arusha, concluding your unforgettable safari experience.
